Trunk Club – Personalized Clothing Service For Men
The creators of Trunk Club believe that the shopping experience, whether in stores or online, doesn’t work for men. Founded on the premise that men want to dress well but don’t like to shop, Trunk Club matches customers with a personal stylist who hand selects outfits based on a member’s preferences, body type, and wardrobe needs. There is no charge for the service and shipping is free both ways. It’s a simple three step process:
1) Tell Us About Yourself — Build an online profile or talk to an expert by phone or email.
2) We Pack Your Trunk — Based on your tastes and needs an expert will hand select appropriate items.
3) Keep What You Love — And return what you don’t with the included prepaid FedEx label.
I learned about Trunk Club through Facebook advertising — consistent, compelling messages in my Facebook sidebar eventually led me to click. Ad copy says “Upgrade your style with Trunk Club, a premium personal shopping service for men. Free shipping, both ways.”
Trunk Club only carries premium brands and they are upfront about their pricey clothes (average prices are listed in their FAQ). In doing so they wisely target a very specific but lucrative customer segment. Facebook advertising makes it easy to find plenty of potential leads. They hit me hard with advertising and I suspect it was because my profile indicated that I ”am 30 years old, work full-time, in an MBA program, and like Nordstrom”. I was a perfect target and they probably found and converted me for under $2.
The experience has been great. My personal stylist Coabi is really knowledgable and the trunk she sent me was awesome. I ended up spending $1000 dollars when I probably wouldn’t have spent more than $200 if I had gone shopping myself. If Trunk Club can maintain the same level of personal service as they grow I will probably remain a customer for a long time.
