Their value proposition is to deliver powerful creativity both online and offline to influence millions of people through their technical and digital expertise.  The market that Crown Social is pursing are companies that like to take risk to engage their customers within the social space. They are not going after a new segment of customers; rather they are disrupting an existing market since they have positioned themselves as the only company that solely focuses on social media marketing. Other major players in the market such as Wunderman have advertising and strategy in a bunch of different areas which includes social. Crown Social’s expertise is that they are a pure player in the social media marketing strategies area which sets them apart. The social space is a fast moving arena and therefore, it becomes difficult for a person to become an expert in it. Crown Social does social media marketing every day and that sets them apart from other agencies who focus on many different things. Crown Social wants its customers to look at social media marketing as an opportunity to engage people and influence millions of customers. The channels through which they reach their customers are mainly inbound marketing and through word of mouth. Crown Social also invested initially in SEO marketing, so that they can be shown up in search results in Google. They also invested in events in the initial stages to gain traction to reach out to its customers.

Blog 4 – Targeting Ads

I have been recently looking a lot into buying a concert tickets and the ads that keep showing up are related to other websites which sell tickets or ads that are targeted towards other concerts. I found this targeted advertising really effective because, the ads were specifically targeted towards me at a point of time when I am considering buying concert tickets. By this way, I will be tempted to click on those ads to explore other options.  I also find targeted advertising a little spooky because it feels like someone is watching over my behavior and purchasing lifestyle. Targeted advertising can be a boon or a Bain.

Blog 3- Wave

Wave is an application that allows a user to hold instant conversations with anyone who has an email address. This gives the user a seamless experience in terms of instant messaging combined with email. It has a clean interface and shares short messages and can hold group conversations. It removes the hassle of signatures, addresses and quotes so that it is easy for the user to read the message/email.

Assignment 2 – Dealflicks

Dealflicks founded by Zachary Cancio, Kevin Hong and Sean Wycliffe is a recent startup that is targeting to become the next Priceline for movie tickets. Dealflicks helps movie theatres sell tickets and snacks for up to 60% off the price. This way movie theatres also increase their revenue without having to run movies with empty seats. It is an innovative, disruptive idea that offers a variable pricing model to consumers which creates value not only for consumers but also to movie theatres.

Dealflicks has collaborated with 500+ US theatre locations as well as US theatre chains. They have an iPhone app, Andriod and Google apps. Dealflicks has an online website through which consumers can purchase tickets and leave inquires. They also have an online presence on Facebook and Twitter to attract the younger demographics.

Their positioning in the market is to be as the next Priceline for movies. They want to deliver value to consumers and movie theatres by capturing a segment of the market who are price sensitive to fixed movie prices. By offering a discount on tickets and snacks, Dealflicks is able to adjust prices so that it can capture the price sensitive consumers.

Their value proposition is to address the problem of movie theatres not being to sell all their movie tickets and also address price sensitive consumers to buy movie tickets and snacks on discount. Currently consumers have to purchase movie tickets only at a fixed price and movie theatres run shows without getting full occupancy of halls. This problem is hard to solve because the movie industry is based off a fixed price model which leaves consumers with a binary choice. The variable pricing offered by Dealflicks breaks the norm of the movie industry. The potential market for this is huge since $40 billion dollars are spent every year on movie tickets, popcorn, and soda, but 88% of movie theater seats are empty (https://angel.co/dealflicks).

I believe that they will be successful in communicating with their target consumers because they have chosen the right online channels as well as partnered with movie theatres as well as movie theatre chains.

Assignment 1: Pure Home – The next best way to design your home

Pure Home is a Seattle-based e-commerce startup that focuses on providing a unique buying experience to consumers and manufacturers in the home décor industry.  Pure Home’s patent pending contextual search technology and social platforms aim to provide an exclusive shopping experience to users by connecting them with products that address their needs.

Pure Home targets to serve two segment of customers- home décor consumers and home décor merchants.

The first segment of customers are the consumers who have an interest in decorating their homes but do not have the knowledge to do so. This segment of consumers can be first time buyers or those who are looking to decorate their homes, but do not have enough information on the various types of color combinations or home décor ideas .  Thus, Pure Home provides consumers with ideas and tools that will help them connect with the right products.

The second segment of customers are the home décor merchants or manufacturers who have an interest in reaching out to consumers with the right products. Pure Home provides them with a platform to help them connect with consumers. This is like the concept that Amazon.com uses to connect vendors to consumers. Pure Home provides merchants to reach out a larger consumer base in a cost effective way.
